Shania & Anshul
Shania and Anshul’s Indian fusion wedding was three days, six celebrations and one very big, very happy family. It was the most ambitious weekend we’d planned, and every moment of it was worth it.
Friday: church and cocktails
The weekend opened with a Catholic ceremony at St Mary’s in North Sydney. Harp and violin played as the bridesmaids walked in, followed by Shania. The couple walked out to Here Comes the Sun into photos under a floral arch. That evening, guests moved to Sala in Pyrmont for a cocktail party. An acoustic duo played on the deck and Aperol spritzes were served. Guests enjoyed canapés, a pasta and risotto station, and a candlelit wall of red roses by JEvent Design. Crown Jewel’s live band kept everyone dancing, and fortune cookies went home as favours.
Saturday: haldi, mehendi and sangeet at home
On Saturday, the family home became the venue. We brought in marquees, festoon lights, emerald velvet daybeds and a full bar. The morning started with the choora and haldi, over dosa, idli and filter coffee. By evening, Shania’s mehendi was done and guests arrived to chaat and pani puri stations. After the sigri and tandoor came out, the family took over the dance floor with performances from siblings, friends and parents, ending with a family medley.
Sunday: Punjabi Hindu pheras and a reception at The Grounds
Anshul’s day began with the sehra bandi. Soon after, his baraat danced in to the dhol. Under Shagun Events’ mandap, the couple took their pheras to live music. Lassi, chai and motichoor laddoos were waiting for guests as they came out. Then everyone travelled to Linseed House at The Grounds of Alexandria. Muse Weddings filled the room with tall taper candles and low florals, and the couple’s monogram glowed on the wall. The night had everything: a sibling dance, speeches, a surprise flash mob from friends, and a dance floor that never emptied.
Our role
We planned and styled the whole wedding, with Meesha leading the styling, across four venues and more than 30 suppliers. That included sourcing marquees, generators and hire for a home event, and running every timeline from the first bouquet delivery to the final bump-out.
