Shubhra & Morgan
Shubhra and Morgan’s Indian fusion wedding brought two cultures together over one joyful week of Sydney summer. There were Punjabi food and dance, a Mauritian welcome from Morgan’s family, and the harbour as a backdrop to it all.
The Sangeet
The celebrations began with a Sangeet at Madison Function Centre. A dholki opened the night. Guest henna artists kept busy while the bar opened and the entrées came out. The family performances were the heart of the evening, from the couple and their siblings to the aunties, the bridal party and a sweet duet from mum and dad. Then Morgan’s aunty and dad took the floor with a traditional Mauritian sega, and the room erupted.
The Hindu ceremony at Gunners Barracks
Three days later, guests gathered on the harbour terrace at Gunners Barracks for masala chai, lassi and mocktails while live music played. Then the dhol started up for Morgan’s baraat. It danced down the path to the milni, where the two families met and welcomed each other. Under a mandap by Shagun Events, Shubhra and Morgan married in the courtyard. We had parasols and hand fans waiting on the chairs to beat the summer sun, and tabla players set the rhythm of the ceremony. Lunch followed in the dining room and on the terrace, with live jalebi made fresh on the viewing platform. The day closed with an emotional vidaai.
The reception at Deckhouse Woolwich
For the final celebration, the couple made a grand entrance at Deckhouse Woolwich under a burst of cold pyrotechnics. Speeches, a photobooth and dinner filled the early evening. Halfway through came a crowd favourite: Sidd Rishi’s same-day edit, played on the big screen only hours after the ceremony. The first dance, wrapped in dry ice, opened a dance floor that stayed full until the very end.
Our role
We coordinated all three events, working with the couple’s chosen suppliers for months beforehand. We shaped the flow of each day, ran the timelines with every vendor and managed everything on the day, from the wet-weather call to the last bump-out. That meant the couple and their families could simply enjoy it.
